What’s New in the MU Base Theme
A new update means a fresh look! The new MU Base Theme brings a bold new brand identity to life, featuring completely updated typography, colors, and patterns. Here is a breakdown of what’s changing and how it compares to our previous design.
Deprecated Layers
To give you more layout control, we are phasing out several older layers in favor of new, more flexible versions. We’ve also renamed a few existing layers to better suit their intended use. These layers include:

- By the Numbers
- Split Layout
New Layers
Design System 4.0 unlocks more creative freedom for content editors. With our newly introduced layers, you can easily build highly customized, dynamic pages without sacrificing brand consistency. New layers are currently in development and will be added to the Theme Showcase as soon as they are available.
